in the northeast. la guardia and newark and boston have been two of the big areas that we have seen delays between one and three hours for some. long delays tonight continue in the northeast and a lot of that is wind related. most of the rain has left even as far northeast at boston. the winds have been gusting between 30 and 40 miles per hour. san francisco, oh, it has been a tough go for you if you're watching from the airports. we've had between three and four-hour delays and the rain and low visibility and fog and that will continue in san francisco. the hardest hit areas tomorrow and sunday. all right. for the northeast, for tomorrow, windy and much cooler, temperatures precipitously dropped 50 tonight in boston and dropping down into the 30s, and will feel much colder than that. quiet, though, in the northeast and the midwest and for sunday, the biggest stormy spot will be on sunday. it will be in of course the west coast and along the west coast. so here is a look at the weekend travel picture. here is the storm. it is exiting the country and exiting the northeast and tomorrow clear skies a

senator elect is chris murphy. the mayor of newark, new jersey is going to be joining us in just a moment. as is the police chief from oak creek wisconsin where that mass shooting occurred this past august. that is all coming up this hour. but, in order to understand one important element of the response to newtown, in order to try to get a handle on the range of possible outcomes here, as we try to make decisions as a country as to whether we are going to change as a country because of this massacre and because of the national heartbreak it has caused, to try to get at that very big question, there is a very narrow discussion to be had about a piece of new technology. this is something called a 3d printer. anybody can become a small-scale manufacturer of anything. all you have to do is down load a computer file or create a computer file that has the specifications for the shape of a thing that you would like to build. you do have a limited range of the material that your 3d

and laguardia, ground stop. philadelphia, newark, two and a half hour delays and the predominance and problem here, the winds. philadelphia gusting to 30 miles per hour. new york, 33 miles per hour gusts. so that's really part of the problem because the big cities aren't seeing snow accumulation. they're seeing heavy rain with the wind. here's a snapshot. tral park gusting to 31 miles per hour. cleveland to indy, 20 to 30 mile per hour gusts and new york, the potential 50, 55 mile per hour gusts. so, he's the big picture. the good news though, we've seen things clear out. in illinois, indiana, even into ohio. you see those kind of holes in the radar, the dark white showing where the heaviest snow is. but see those dry pockets now? all that is lifting out. still wet here along the 95 cory r dor, but all the snow, we saw a lot. so in southeastern illinois, 18 inches. bloomfield, indiana, 11. indy, 7.2. paducah, kentucky, 4.6. a lot of strong storms and a lot of snow. but here's where the heaviest snow is. in upstate and western new york. that's really where the problems will be. her
not reporting many delays and there's a 15-minute delay in newark and not a huge problem. san francisco reported a bigger delay today due to rain. as we look at video from other parts of the country, from st. louis and from kansas city, there's not much of a problem there. there are some long lines and for the most part travelers have gotten to where they needed to go. there are other problems, however, in the northeast and places like upstate new york, virginia and pennsylvania. snow has snarled traffic there and there is some concern that on the west coast, as well, there could be issues. for the most part, traffic is doing much better today than it did in the past two days, thursday and friday. more than 1600 cancellations throughout the country and so far today only about 75 according to flight aware.com. again, here in atlanta, it could be a whole lot worse, richard. >> they have more runways and 405 will be more difficult. gabe gutierrez at the atlanta hartsfield international airport. we'll check back in with you, thanks. >>> egyptians are going back to the polls on the constitution. the

's what is making travel so perilous. whether it is the winds in newark or laguardia now or just rain slowing things down, or these winds gusting to 30 in chicago, 23 in nashville, gusting to 45 earlier in indianapolis. it is the winds that are making travel so perilous and so dangerous and impacting the roads and the airports. blizzard warnings here from central indiana to ohio. again, that means the snow coupled with the winds. but look at this, 12 inches, a foot plus of snow possible in western new york. the worst of it tonight until tomorrow in new york state. and then we will begin to see this move out. hefty total of snow. here is the movement as we head toward early tomorrow. you see new york, new york state ensconced in snow. western pennsylvania as well. then by thursday morning, it is still there, and into maine and finally pushes all out. so victor, we're not done with this here. we have another two days, good news all the severe threat coming to an end by tonight and snow still a factor with the winds. >> rough weather on the start of the christmas travel season. rough wea
